In continuation of our letter dated 14 th May relative

to the proposed improvements of the Harbour of Hong Kong I

have the honour to enclose for the information of the Secretary

of State a copy of a letter from the Consulting Engineers

giving particulars of the preliminary information which it is

probably desirable should be collected if it would be decided

to send out an expert to investigate the local conditions.
